Leonardo never truly stopped working on the portrait. It is accepted that he carried The Mona Lisa with him and most assuredly continued refining it throughout his life.

Since no one knows who da Vinci's model was, we don't know when she died. Actually da vinci, did not have a model so there was no date of birth or anything! HA!
