Mary of Scots who wanted to kill her and the problem of religion - she couldn't make everyone happy.
Early in the year Queen Mary thought she was pregnant, no child was born and she accept Elizabeth as heir. Later in the year Queen Mary died and Queen Elizabeth acended to the throne.
Yes, Francis II and Mary Stuart did not have children. Francis II became King of France in 1559 and married Mary, Queen of Scots in 1558, but he died in 1560 after just over a year of marriage. They did not have any children together.
Yes she was. let us not get too wrapped up in dates. Both Queens were Half-Sisters though a common Father, King Henry Viii. Mary was the daughter of Henry"s first marriage to Katharine of Aragon, who was ,as you may have guessed a Spanish lady.Elizabeth Tudor was the daughter of Henry and Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth acceded to the Throne on the death of Mary I (also called Bloody Mary) in l558 this was also the year of the Spanish Armada a failed amphibious assault on England by the Spanish Fleet. religious wars punctuated royal politics in those days!
Elizabeth assumed the throne at age twenty-five in 1558 following the death of her half-sister Mary I, known as Bloody Mary.
Queen Elizabeth I (1533 - 1603) was locked up in the Tower of London in March 1554 for 8 weeks, (when she was still Princess Elizabeth) on the orders of her half sister, Mary I (1516 - 1558). Mary was suspicious of Elizabeth and thought she might be the inspiration for plots against her. When Mary I died in 1558, Elizabeth became Queen.
He was 48 when he killed Mary Hogan, owner of a local tavern. That was his first kill.
Elizabeth Stuart was born on August 19, 1596.
Elizabeth was the third in line for the throne after Henry VIII's death. She was a protestant heir to the throne and Mary who was the Catholic monarch before her was afraid that she would attempt to over throw her and place herself on the throne as a Protestant Queen. Mary imprisoned Elizabeth in 1554 because she was thought to have been involved in a Protestant plot against Mary that was lead by Sir Thomas Wyatt. She was released a short time later, I believe it was 8 weeks later, with no charge but was placed under house arrest.
Her brother was Edward VI and her sister was Mary Tudor, known as Bloody Mary or Mary I. She also had an illegitimate brother, Henry Fitzroy who died within a year or two of her birth.
James VI of Scotland, son of Mary, Queen of Scots, became King James I of England upon the death of Elizabeth I because he was her closest living relative. James was related to Elizabeth through her aunt, Henry VIII's sister, Margaret Tudor. Margaret was James' great-great grandmother and as Elizabeth had no children, he was the next in line for the English throne. With James' succession, began the House of Stuart. Margaret Tudor, Henry VIII's sister, married James IV of Scotland who begat James V, who married Marie de Guise from France, and begat Mary, Queen of Scots, the mother of James VI, who eventually became James I of England. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_I_of_England#Proclaimed_King_of_England
