The previous answer was simply not true. In fact it still had a high ratings when it was canceled. What had happen was the president of CBS wanted to revamp their lineup. Because their lineup was very rualized and catered to older viewers. So they got rid of any show with trees in them. This included "Beverley Hillbillies." and sadly "Hogan's Heroes." Many people think the "Rual Purge" as it is known was giving the middle finger to Cbs's loyal viwers. Interesting fact they were in the middle of writing season 7 when the show got the axe.
