The Kansas Nebraska Act reopened argument over the spread of slavery into territories of the Louisiana Purchase.
Reportedly Aaron Burr was in contact with the British minister in Washington DC. Burr needed England in his plan to form an alliance with Great Britain to take over western territories and the land of the Louisiana Purchase. He appealed to Great Britain for military support.
The Louisiana Purchase covered over 800,000 square miles in dozens of climates. The climates ranged from mountains to plains to grasslands, to riparian areas.

The Louisiana Purchase was the land west of the Mississippi River that was bought from Napoleon while he was trying to take over Europe. Lewis and Clark went out on a mission across the Louisiana Purchase to find the Northwest Passage. (There mission was a failure, since there was no Northwest Passage).
The biggest effect the Louisiana Purchase had on the United States was the change in the size of the country. The Louisiana Territory more than doubled the size of the country. In addition, the Louisiana Purchase forced Spain and France out of the land now defined as the United States, confining their North American territories to Mexico and Canada, respectively.
