Yes. According to the US government's official energy statistics, 40% of Murphy Oil's 2007 imports came from Persian Gulf countries: http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/summary2007.html No. The above answer is outdated. For the year 2011 (January - December 2011) Murphy Oil did not import any crude oil from Persian Gulf countries. Web verification: http://www.eia.gov/petroleum/imports/companylevel/summary.cfm
Until Operation Desert Storm (Jan-Feb 1991), the eight year war between Iran and Iraq was called the Persian Gulf War, and the US was also involved. Therefore, which Persian Gulf War are you referring to?
Any time the world's oil supply in the Persian Gulf is endangered by conflict...it's called the Persian Gulf crisis. If Axis warships conducted operations in or around the Persian Gulf during WWII, it would have been considered a "Persian Gulf Crisis." If the Arab-Israeli wars of the late 1940's, 1950's, or the 1967 Six Day War or Yom Kipper War of '73 had been fought along the borders of the Persian Gulf...then it would have been another "Persian gulf Crisis." Other "Persian Gulf Crisis's" have been: 1. Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) 2. Operation Desert Shield (1990-the build up of coalition forces in Saudi-Arabia/Southwest Asia). 3. Operation Desert Storm (Jan/Feb 1991-military force used to eject Iraq from Kuwait with forces built up during Operation Desert Shield the previous year). 4. Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003- the removal of Saddam from power in Iraq).

The freeing of Kuwait called Desert Storm took place in 1991.
The first war with Iraq started in 1990. This war, also known as Operation Desert Storm, the Persian Gulf War, First Gulf War, Gulf War I, or the First Iraq War, started when Iraq invaded Kuwait.
There were two Persian Wars, recorded by the Greek historian Herodotus. The first was in 490 BC, and the second was in 480-479 BC. If the question is about the Persian Gulf War, it was in 1990-91.
