1967
The Rolling Stone magazine is published every two weeks.
1967; its first cover photo was of John Lennon, from the movie How I Won the War.
He was. Manson loved it. Charles Manson was named Man of the Year in the underground newspaper 'Tuesday's Child' in early 1970. It was reported in Rolling Stone magazine No61 on 25th June 1970 with a photo of the front cover which is where the misconception originated. I have an original copy of the magazine which names Manson as 'the most dangerous man alive' - I guess this only serves to feed the myth about them naming him man of the year
