From 1825 to 1863, the Northern Territory was part of New South Wales, and from 1863 to 1911 it was part of South Australia. On 1 January 1911, the Northern Territory was separated from South Australia and transferred to Commonwealth control.
Australia has Daylight Saving in four states and one territory. Residents of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory alter their clocks early in October, and change them back in early April of the following year.

It is estimated that Australia's wild brumby population increases by 20% every year. They cause massive environmental and ecological damage.
The year that California became a territory was around 1848 after the Mexican-American War. It became a state in 1850.
