The vikings never left Iceland.
The modern Icelandic population is either Viking(fair haired and blue eyed) or Inuit (black haired and brown eyes).
Vikings established settlements in iceland and greenland around the 800-900s :d....<3

Not Leif. His father Erik the Red was kicked out of Norway and Iceland.
The Vikings in Iceland were outcasts; those kicked out of Norway, or having left it because they did not fit in. Iceland had a representative government called the Althing instead of being ruled by a king. They also had alimony for a divorced wife. Perhaps they wanted to portray themselves as refugees eeking out survival in a harsh land, instead of living in paradise, so that invaders would not move in on them. Or......perhaps the currents have shifted since the days of the Vikings, causing a change in climate. Perhaps Iceland was really covered in ice then, Greenland was really green, and wild grapes really grew in Vinland.
