this will tell you: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/support/serialnumbersearch/
I got this off the Gibson web site. In 1977, Gibson introduced the serialization method that we primarily use to this day at Gibson USA, Gibson Acoustic, and the Gibson Custom facility in Memphis, TN. The serial number will be an 8 digit number impressed into the back of the headstock with "MADE IN USA" below. The pattern is as follows: YDDDYRRR YY is the production year DDD is the day of the year This would indicate your guitar was built in 1981
You can see the serial number on a Gibson, on the inside of the guitar.
Please post a more specific question. Serial numbers are on hundreds of thousands of different items from banknotes to iPods.
Its a fake..There are not 922 days in the year!!
The Gibson A2 mandolin with serial number 56370 was manufactured in 1922. Gibson's serial numbers from that era can often be traced to specific years, and records indicate that this number falls within that production period. For precise dating, consulting vintage instrument references or Gibson's official records can provide additional context.

The SERIAL NUMBER of a GIBSON Model D is stamped into the top of the frame rail, directly beside the engine mount on the left-hand side of the tractor.
To determine the age of a Gibson J-50 guitar, you'll need to look at its serial number, which is typically located inside the body of the guitar. Gibson's serial numbers can provide information about the year of manufacture, as they often include the year as part of the sequence. Generally, for guitars produced after 1989, the first digit of the serial number indicates the year. You can also consult Gibson's official resources or databases for more specific information related to your guitar's serial number.
A Gibson's serial number is on the back of the headstock.
The Gibson J200 with the serial number 70659081 was manufactured in 1970. Gibson typically uses a six-digit serial number system starting in the 1970s, where the first two digits indicate the year of production. In this case, "70" corresponds to 1970.
