Harry Ferguson invented HIS tractor in the late 1930's. He wanted a simple reliable tractor and that's what he made. According to a friend of mine who is a farmer and has 3 old Ferguson tractors, Harry's greatest invention was the '3 point linkage', that allowed many pieces of equipment to be virtually part of the tractor.
Harry Ferguson, born in 1884, started experimenting with tractors and plows in his early years. He invented the 3-point hitch and called it the "Ferguson System".
Serial number 1,230,741 was manufactured in 1940 and in all probability is a carbine with 20" barrel and shotgun buttplate. Its value will vary greatly, dependent mainly on its condition and could range from merely a "parts gun" with a minimal value under $100.00 to $500.00 or $600.00 if it is in excellent condition and retains almost all of its ORIGINAL factory metal bluing and wood finish.
