It depends on model. Guns marked 583 3, 583 6 ,583 9, 583 12 , 583,15 583 19, 583 22, and 583 25 . Were known as the J C Higgins model 10 these guns were made between 1945 to 1956 .They were jointly made by Harrington & Richardson and High Standard for Sears .Guns marked 583 1101 and 583 1102 Were known as the Model 11 these were made between 1958 and 1962 these guns were made by High Standard Manufacturing for Sears Models 10, 11 and 14 were bolt action shotguns made by High Standard.
