i would like to know aii the specs on my mercury 45 outboard serial #4869920
In order to determine the year model for a Mercury ouboard, the serial number, which is listed, and the horse power rating is needed.
Unfortunately to find out the year of a Mercury boat motor one needs not only the serial number, but also the horse power rating. This allows it to be narrowed down to a specific year.
140 horse power and 215 foot-pound torque
With the stock tail pipes the 96 marques' has 190 horse power and with the dual pipes you have 210 horse power
The serial number, along with the horse power for Mercury outboards, will tell you the year model only. The serial number, and hp rating of a particular engine, is compared to a model year chart to determine the year of manufacture. Models produced in the early 80's and later, also have a model and year designation printed on the serial number label. Example.... 90ELPTO, 90hp, electric start, power trim, oil injected.
