well since i love to watch Digimon as a kid, i do have to admit that as a kid, i don't actually know what was the year where Digimon was made, but since i've been searching some information about it and here's how i got it from:
acording to Digimon Wiki:
the franchise started out as an Digital Pet that is called "Digital Monster" which has it's own similiar style and concepts to the Tamagotchi ones. it's nothing special, its only just like the tamagotchi ones where you can take care of them. except that you can train with them and also evolve with them.
there was a pilot that was made on march 6 of 1999. which it's simply called Digimon Adventures. the pilot involves Tai as a kid and Kari as a baby where they encounter an Digimon (which it could be Koromon, then Agumon and then Greymon) 4 years ago.
and after that the show was released one day later, which it was an pretty great show!
and after that, Toei Animation (who produced this show) would later make more shows that the Digimon fans has ever seen such as:
Digimon Adventures 2, which is the second series. (which is one of my favorites of the franchises!)
then they make some of the spin-offs like:
Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontiers, Digimon Savers (also known as Digimon Data Squad) and the most recent "Digimon Xros Wars".
also, not only Digimon had it's own Tamagotchi and tv shows stuff, but it also has Video Games, Card games and all of that stuff that i can't explain that much!
all of that stuff we're done by Akiyoshi Hongo. the guy who was credited as "the creator of the original concept and character designs for the anime and video game franchise, Digimon." however, there's not much to say about him.
Digimon Racing was created on 2004-04-01.
Digimon Battle Spirit was created on 2001-10-05.
No because they are created by two different companies. Digimon by Bandai and Pokemon by GameFreak.
No channel in the U.S. is currently airing Digimon Xross Wars however Nickelodeon will be airing it this year under the name of Digimon Fusion.
No, Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of Pokémon did not create Digimon. Digimon's human creators have not been identified by name however the companies behind Digimon's creation is Bandai of Japan since they had created the Tamagotchi concept and Wiz had planned the idea of the Digital Monster virtual pet even though Bandai created it. Digimon started out as a digital pet called "Digital Monster", which was a spin-off of the Tamagotchi and its concept was mainly for boys. Every owner would start with a Baby Digimon, train it, evolve it, take care of it and then have battles with other Digimon owners to see who was stronger. The Digimon pet had several evolution capabilities and abilities too so many owners had many different Digimon.
