Galileo Galilei was put underhouse arrest in June of 1633, not at his own house, but at the residence of the Tuscan ambassador, and later at the residence of the archbishop of Siena after traveling to Rome to be questioned by the Roman Inquisition. Then, in December of the same year, he was allowed to return to his villa in Arcetri, near Florence.
