Later, the Aztec took found the secret of chocolate, but the merciless Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortez killed many Aztecs and stole the secret from them. The secret didn't get outside of Spain for a century. The Olmec grew cacao way before that, though, around the year 1500 BC. But they didn't actually make the drink.
