Delaware was the first colony to be founded. It was founded in 1638, but didn't officially become a state until December 7, 1787.

I'm not certain whether or not Pennsylvania was one of the thirteen original colonies. The thirteen original colonies had their own flag. America's thirteen original colonies are to be found along the eastern seaboard of the North American continent.

An odd question; the colonies didn't do any exploring -- other countries did that. The colonies were set up because of exploration. Spain found Florida first that is why St. Augustine is the one of the oldest permanent settlements in North America.

The "main" reason the British established the 13 colonies was for financial opportunity. They wanted to take over New France and control the fur trade. Other reasons the colonies were found: to avoid religious persecution and for profits.

I don't recall there ever being a "thaks giving". First THANKSGIVING was between the pilgrams from the first thirteen colonies, and the native americans who resided here before they moved to the "new found land" which is now "the united states of america".
