By 1942, the Germans had built 6 death camps. Some of theses death camps were Auschwitz, Belzec, Chelmno, Majdanek, Sobibor, and T.II. Some other Concentration camps were Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, Dachau, Sachsenhausen, Treblinka, and Theresienstadt. These camps were forced work camps and not killing camps. The worst death camp out of them all was Auschwitz.
beds near piled on top of each other. they eat only thin soup with a tiny bit of vegetables and sometimes meat. the Jews were treated this way because hitter was using them as a scapegoat. that is that he was blaming the Jews for all Germany's problems they had at that time. remember it was just after the World War 1 which Germany lost and they were in poverty, people were unemployed and their was starvation. also Hitler blamed the Jews for losing the war
Elie Wiesel was sent to Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944 during World War II. He was eventually transferred to Buchenwald concentration camp before being liberated in 1945.
because her and her family were found at their secret annex...but they all got sent to different camps :(
He was sent to 5 different concentration camps but i can only find 3 due to low information of Benjamin Jacobs. He was sent to Buchenwald concentration camp, dora-mittelbau concetration camp, Auschwitz concentration camp.
Most were in the area formerly known as the 'Pale of Settlement', the largest concentration was in what the Nazis called 'General Government'.
During the Holocaust, Jews were sent into the concetration camps as prisoners and/or slaves. Other than that, before the Holocaust, Nazis sent enemies to the concetration camps. The extermination camps came into most use during the Holocaust. Before that, it was used for expeirimenting and enemies.
Ghettos were a small section of a city where Jews were herded into and kept until they were sent to concentration camps.
Elie Wiesel's father was not wealthy. He was a grocery store owner in Sighet, a small town in Romania. The Wiesel family lived a modest life before being sent to concentration camps during the Holocaust.
They were sent to ghettos prior to the Concentration Camps...
They were sent to Auschwitz along with Elie and the rest of the Wiesel family
Relocation camps were camps where people were kept. Mostly Jews were kept there, but there were other people. They were sent there because Germany and the Nazis hated them!
They were sent to Auschwitz. Later, Elie and his father were moved to Buchenwald.
concentration camps or death camps Edit: Like the above said, they were sent to concentration camps. Although, if they were healthy the Jew was then send to work camps, but before this they lived in the ghettos. (or they had to go hide.)
Jews were sent mainly to extermination camps rather than concentration camps. Please see the related question(s).
