There acatually have been several organizations that have used the name Ku Klux Klan, the first was established in 1865 as a underground movement to resist the efforts of the post war reconstruction and was eventually suppressed by the US Army due to its extreme violence; and dissolved some time around 1874.
In 1915 the Klan was re-established as a fraternal organization and had a brief period of popularity, but from the 1930s on declined in popularity until it again officially dissolved in 1944.
Since the name has been used by a variety of splinter organizations with little or no central structure or organization; it current membership is estimated to be only a few thousand people.

None- . The KKK arose in the South after the Civil War. No US presidents had any adult ties with the Southern states in the years that the KKK was active so there is no reason why any of them would have joined.
As a lifelong citizen of Utah, I swear that I have never heard about any dealings of the KKK in Utah.

Yes, there are still active members of the KKK, but you don't hear about them as often because they do a lot less manslaughter. There are currently about 7,000 members in the Klan.

The KKK was very active before 1915. They began soon after the civil war to threaten and scare the exslaves. In the 1920's they held a convention in Washington DC and marched line by line down Pennsylvania Avenue. They also ran a man for president, but when it was discovered he murdered a woman he had to drop out. The main headquarters of the organization for years was in Tennessee.
