The Cold War resulted in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The US was RECOVERING from WW2 by the time of the Korean War. There had been less than 5 years between the wars. WW2 greatly overshadowed Korea. Veterans who fought in both wars would talk about WW2, not Korea. To some of them, Korea was simply an extension of WW2.
Korean War 1950-51.
For the short time that Elvis Presley was in the Army, the Korean War had already ended 5 or 6 years previously, and it would be another 4 or 5 years after he was discharged that the first inklings of the Vietnam conflict began. Elvis served in no wars.
Most famously the Korean and Vietnam Wars, although there were others.

WW1 and Korean War are the only 20th century wars ended by an Armistice. WW1 on November 11, 1918; Korean War July 27, 1953.
