Answer: Wheat has been planted and harvested since before the invention of writing. Writing was invented by the Sumerians around 2000BC, before that petroglyphs and hyroglyphs -pictures- were used for written communication. So you're looking at approx 10,000BC when tribes were planting and harvesting, if not even further back.
