No you need a Roto Phase
Possibly. You need to check the rating on the device. Many compressors can operate on either 50 or 60 Hz.
its answer is YES because 220 is a phase voltage in three phase system and line voltage for three phase system is 220*1.732=381 or 380. thus motor runs. <<>> The above answer is wrong. Just because one leg to ground voltage is 220 volts on a 380 volt system does not allow the three phase motor to run off of one leg of a three phase system. A three phase motor is wound with three sets of coils which, if connected as above, the other two motor coils would not get energised. <<>> When a motor runs on 380V three phase, it is connected in star, which means that one end of each of the three motor windings are connected together to create a star point. The other end of each motor winding is connected to one of the three phases. If you only have 220V supply, you can still run the motor, but then you need to use a current inverter (or drive) to divide the 220V supply into three phases and the motor MUST then be connected in DELTA. This is achieved by connecting the windings end to end. Here is a diagram of a delta and a star (or Y) connection
The formula you are looking for is 460 divided by the square root of 3 (1.73).
Yes, that's possible, but only for low-powered motor. You know that in order to start, the stator must be supplied with voltages that are shows shift phase between them, so the trick is to use a capacitor (since it shifts phase current) to simulate a 3-phase source. As indicated in the following picture: http://freecircuitdiagram.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Enabling-3-Phase-Motor-Operates-with-Single-Phase-Supply.gif
There is no household current with which you can power a 460 volt motor.Normal US household power is 120/240VAC split phase. (Other countries have different configurations, but the answer remains the same.) Without a transformer, and a substantial power flow, you are not going to develop the voltage necessary to run a 460 volt motor. Even if you could generate that voltage, you still only have one phase available, and most 460 volt motors require three phase power. You could do this with an inverter, or a motor-generator set, but to be blunt, you are asking about a commercial application, not a household application.
380 hp
A Ford F-250 truck weighs about 5,752 lbs. It is a diesel 460 motor extended cab, 4-wheel drive and an 8 ft. bed.
No you need a Roto Phase
we have a 460 ford in our jet drive boat. recently we have replaced the fotor and the alternator is not charging we are not sure if it is connected properly. It is currently connected with two wires. What Do you recommend?
