The first five processor Colossus production model that could process 25000 characters per second first operated just after midnight on June 1, 1944 (a few minutes behind schedule, but just in time to decrypt a message from Hitler to Rommel showing the Allies deception tactics had worked, that when delivered to Eisenhower on June 5 after reading it and handing it back to the courier he announced that D-day is tomorrow). Ten more five processor Colossus production models were built before VE day.
