They were angry as Jesus healed him on a sabbath.
when Jesus was arrested peter tried to protect Jesus and peter then sliced off the mans head who was attacking Jesus. Jesus got angry from that told him off and healed the man who was trying to attack Jesus.
The reason Jesus says not to angry is anger leads to jealousy and jealousy leads to violence.

Jesus was angry when the disciples told the children to go away because the lords kingdom belongs to little children like them.
Joh 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. In this verse we are told why the religious leaders wanted to get rid of Jesus. Jesus healed a crippled man on the sabbath - John 5:6 and when Jesus spoke of God as His Father He was claiming to be equal with God. To the religious leaders this was terrible blasphemy.

The bible says that jesus drove the traders from the temple. This is the only time he got angry andraised his hands.
