When Was Judo First Played?
Judo was based of a martial art called Jujitsu which was taught to the samurai that fought in japan a long time ago. Jigoro Kano is credited as the founder of judo. He took out the moves that required strength and the eye gouging and transformed Judo into a sport. In 1882 he opened the worlds first judo academy.
Japan was the first to create Judo. It is traditional for them by using some of the jackets like how they wear recently and make Judo into a sport. Well judo has been around for a very long time. the sport started in greenland but then the russians took credit for starting it because they have done similar activities like judo. Also then in 1856 many people from england came to introduce the sport to native americans who started to do judo. once president woodrow wilson was the president of the usa he always loved to do judo.
