condensation and the speed decreases
When a substance undergoes a phase change the molecules either order themselves or disperse themselves randomly. In a solid the molecules are unable to freely move in space. In liquid form they are able to move around in the space they occupy and in gas form they can move freely in any open area. In gas state the molecules will have more kinetic energy than liquid or solid, and liquid more than solid.
When a substance is changing from liquid to gas, the energy, which is absorbed, causes the atoms (or molecules) to move at a higher rate of speed, so that they are not staying close together, like in the liquid state. So the absorbed energy increases the kinetic energy of the atoms (or molecules).
Yes, as water is heated, the molecules continue to speed up until they are moving so fast that they fly off which is what we call steam when you are boiling water.
A thermometer. Temperture is the measure of the kinetic energy, Aka speed, of molecules.
They do have the same average speed ... it's called the air temprature. I believe you need to define average for yourself.
condensation and the speed decreases
the speed of the molecules decreases.
trick question it dosent it turn into a liquid and then its done
There is no chemical difference, the only difference is the speed in which the molecules of the substances move. Slower molecules can be solid or liquid and very high speed molecules can be gas.
When water goes from a gas to a liquid, or a liquid to a solid, the water molecules have lower kinetic energy, and therefore they lose speed.
The molecules slow down.
The molecules slow down.
It is the speed in which a substance changes from a solid to liquid and a liquid to vapor
X
The speed doesn't change, it's just that the molecules are free to move around, rather than being restricted to a shape.
Liquid to a gas
The molecules absorb more energy, more speed and can be released from the liquid.
