It's a very deroggitive name to refer to a woman. The guy is speaking as if the woman is an object and not human. The term was frequently used on 1960's era television by comedians.
That could mean several things honestly. I have called lots of girls darling for quite a long time, but saying it in a friendly joking manner. Like, "well how are you darling?" Anyways, it would depend on if this guy likes you or not. If he has not shown any signs of liking you, then it is very possible that "darling" is just a pet name he uses for friendly slang, just like calling his guy friends "dude" or "bro". However, I will say this; he probably would not call you "darling", if he did not think you were attractive. I highly doubt he would use that pet name towards someone he finds unattractive! And with that I am assuming you are an attractive person?... Best thing you can do? If you like this guy, you should TELL HIM, and find out if he feels the same way about you! Hope this helps. -Zandrello

This question depends on the person. If you have know the guy for quite a while and he hints other "love" signs towards you, then yes calling you darling may mean he loves you. On the other hand though, there are people who call their friends darling as well. I would say that if the guy acts like he likes you and has more hints than just calling you darling, then he more than likely is in love. Hope this helps.
Answer If a guy dislikes you it's the same as a woman not liking a guy, she will snub him and guy's do the same thing. They won't return phone calls, answer emails, or messages on cell phones. They just plain ignore you.
