That would be a judgment call on what the old belt looked like.
About 50,000 miles is recommended for ALL serpentine belts.
yes the serpentine belt will be hot after running engine
I have asked this question of the dealer, twice now. The answer is that it should last for the life of the engine. If you had an older Toyota, like I did, with a timing belt, it had to be changed at an interval recommended by Toyota. No such interval exists for chains, according to my dealer.
According to my dealer, it should be changed at 150,000 km.
from a 1992 what please? in regards to your serpentine, the engine should, if your lucky have a diagram of how it goes.
The point at which you should have your serpentine belt changed depends on the vehicle. It is best to check the owner's manual. That said, under the best of conditions, the belt should last from 60,000 to 100,000 miles, depending on the vehicle. This doesn't mean the belt won't need to be adjusted at some point before it needs to be changed.
there should be a engine decal on the radiator shroud it will have the directions on how to install the serpentine belt the engine size should be on this decal
If it has a serpentine belt it should have an automatic belt tensioner If it doesn't have a serpentine belt then alternator should be the adjustment/pivot point
Should be on top of the engine shroud.
Your belt should be checked for cracks or tears if you see these it should be replaced asap
You firts pull out the battery, and then you slip out the starter cables, and right where the belts are you snap those and that's where the serpentine belt should be changed.
I was told by a dealer $240 in January 2008.
