The areca palm is sometimes called a Palmera. To obtain a propagation, unearth the root and look for the suckers. Cut the sucker as close to the parent plant as possible. Place in potting soil, and moisten then cover with plastic and place in 70 degree environment. The plastic is removed after a month.
