They ate a dawn when they got up. The word breakfast comes from "break the fast" after not eating all night. They ate where they lived noble and common. There was a mid morning meal and usually if a man was working in the fields or another place they ate there. Finally there was a meal in the evening. The nobility would make this a large meal, but most people just had what they had most of the day. Much of the diet was of rye bread and barley soup.
