When the reds come on, the bus driver has opened the passenger door to exit or pick up pupils.
If your state has the 4 light system (all reds), you must stop when they are activated.

If you don't honestly know this you probably shouldn't be driving. If, as i suspect, you are in drivers ed and too lazy to read the booklet, then you are not mature enough to drive and should drop out of the class and wait another year. Driving is very serious, you are taking your life and the life of everyone around you in your hands. It takes a good deal of respect, care, alertness, and skill to safely drive. Please don't be foolish behind the wheel. Even though I agree with you, they deserve the answer. That's what this site is for after all. What you should do is slow to a complete stop and wait until all the passengers on and the bus has begun moving. :)

It means that you are approaching a school.

Yes, all traffic in front and behind the Bus are REQUIRED to stop. When a bus has it's sign extended and it's lights are flashing, it is either picking up or dropping off children.
