Mummu
Mummu, whose name means 'the one who has awoken,' is Apsu's vizier. Mummu is a deity of Mesopotamian origin, and appears in a creation myth.
They are trying to kill their mother.
Apsu wants to destroy his children in Babylonian mythology because he fears they will overpower and betray him, based on a prophecy that foretells that one of his sons will eventually kill him. This fear leads Apsu to conspire with his wife Tiamat against their children, which ultimately leads to his own demise at the hands of his grandson, Marduk.
Apsu plans to destroy his children as he sees them as a threat to his rule over the younger gods. He believes they are too loud and disruptive, and he seeks to maintain his dominance and control over the cosmos.
Apsu was the god of fresh water, and Tiamat was the goddess of salt water.
The parent gods in the Enuma Elish are Apsu (the personification of fresh water) and Tiamat (the personification of salt water). They were the primordial deities who gave birth to the gods and other beings in the Babylonian creation myth.
The gods were all known to be mean and angry as they had a harsh life, the gods names were TIAMAT ISHTAR ENKI MARDUK APSU ANU HUMBABA INANNA GILGAMESH ERESHKIGAL
Because he's made up and the writers thought it'd be a good idea. Actually, a flippant reply is quite appropriate because it's obvious you haven't read the story. It is stated quite plainly that Gilgamesh seeks out Utnapishti because he is afraid of death and wants to learn the secret of immortality. Another aspect of your question that needs to be clarified is what is meant by the term "underworld". Utnapishti lives in the realm of the God Ea, the Apsu or freshwater ocean beneath the earth. This is to be differentiated from the Netherworld, the dusty and terrifying realm of the dead which, presumably, was one level down from the Apsu. Although there is occasional overlapping of the terminology in other Mesopotamian literature, in Gilgamesh they are clearly separate.
Like all creation myths the Enuma Elish [Babylonian creation myth] begins with the Universe in a formless state [the nothing, the void] from which emerge two primary Gods. APSU [MALE] The sweet waters and TIAMAT [FEMALE] Salt primevil waters. After the waters mix- so begins the creation of all else - Sky,Thunder,Earth,Sea,Vegetation etc down to the first humans to walk upon the land.
