when theyre ready
caterpillars hide in trees
they kiled each other
No they do not because if they did it would change their divelopment (makeing the butterfly deformed)
Spikes on caterpillars are not a sign of cocooning.Rather, they occur only on some caterpillar species.
Monarch caterpillars do not sleep. They do become inactive and stop moving at different points during the day and night.
Moths lay eggs that hatch into caterpillars just like butterflies do. Only after it forms and hatches from its cacoon does it resemble the adult moth.
my answer is the caterpillars are almost ready to be in their cocoon so they try to get used to it
First, line the top of the cage with cheesecloth, for when it is ready to build its cacoon. Then, put a few woodchips (NOT ROCKS!) into the bottom, in a corner. Then put leaves, flowers, and non-thorny or prickly items into the cage. Put a few branches leading to the top so they can climb up to make their cacoon. Also, cut a small corner off of a sponge, and put a little bit of water on it, that way, the caterpillars have a nice drink.
What exactly is the inside of a caterpillar made out of?
This is really depends on the type of caterpillar you have/seen. (whatever) It can take a few weeks; but before winter arrives, butterflies have the ability to make the process last for months at a time.
The correct spelling is "cacoon"
Velvet Cacoon was created in 2001.
