Because of the large Volume of very popular games already released for PS2 and also the large number of PS3 game consoles the PS2 market is very slow and few PS2 games are being released. The PS2 games that are being released are multi platform games designed for a number of different game consoles. For more than the past 2 years game series that were released for the PS2 have had new games designed and released for the PS3 and many times the PS2 game versions were not released. The PS2 was released 10 years ago and is old technology like the Cancelled Sony Walkman. The PS2 does not have the ability to play the PS3 and Xbox 360 designed games and require that the games are scaled down to perform in the PS2. The PS2 games lower costs and lower sales also do not command the high profits a successful launch of a PS3 / Xbox 360 designed game like Red Dead Redemption brings to the game developers.
