Personally I was raised to believe you couldn't handle the babies until they were not totally dependent on mom.
BUT, my dwarf (3 pounds) just had a litter by a 9 pound regular house rabbit (not a dwarf). After I had read online information leading to believe what I was raised with was incorrect I, under close supervision, started handling them immediately, as soon as I discovered them, the day of the birth, a few hours (about 8) afterwards. I made sure that I first gave lots of attention to the mom, showed her the kits and praised her profusely. I have a very close relationship with the mom, she has often spent the night cleaning my hair, as I slept. She is very loving and accepting.
I have had NO problems with her mistreating her kits.
So, I'd say, if you and your rabbit are on good standing with each other, its best to start as soon as possible, to get the young adapted to human companionship.
I'm not sure but pick them up around 3-4 weeks old
You should start socializing your baby rabbits at about 2 weeks of age. This will get them used to people and make it easier on them when you sell them as pets. By 4 weeks of age you should be handling them on a regular basis.
a rabbit is a good pet but you have to pick up after it every week
yes
The daddy rabbit would but only to do harm to them. You should keep the daddy apart from the baby rabbits. Rabbits do not pick up their babies like cats do. If a baby falls out of the nest box the mom will not return it to it's nest. This is why you should be checking on your baby rabbits regularly comes in, the doe depends on you for help.
the rabbit wouldn't like it but no damage to the babys
feed it and dont pick it up when its eating. Also dont pick it up when its not used to u or it might get scared of you
No, you can't put baby oil on a rabbit. Anything you put on a rabbit will end up inside the rabbit because rabbits clean themselves by licking themselves. Baby oil is not safe for a rabbit to ingest and can make the rabbit sick. There is no good reason to put baby oil or any kind of oil on a rabbit. If your rabbit is sick, you should bring it to a vet who has experience and knowledge in treating rabbits.
A baby rabbit is called a 'kitten.'
a baby rabbit is called a kitten a baby hare is called a leveret.
We had the same problem with our baby ferret- we found out it was because the previous owners were feeding it adult food rather than baby food. We tried giving her soft food or mixing her baby food with water to make it soft. I hope this helps with your rabbit! I wish you both the best of luck! =) Ferrets and rabbits are entirely different. Ferrets are carnivores. Pick your rabbit up and gently shake. Can you hear water sloshing?? Your baby has mucoid enteritis. Take it to a vet immediately.
A baby rabbit is called a kit.
