The plasma plume is essentially like a river that surrounds the Earths magnetic field. It sends particles into the magnetosphere from the atmosphere.
Well, imagine the Earth's magnetic field is an umbrella, its a fairly sturdy umbrella so most of the Solar Wind is deflected off and around the Earth. But some of the Solar Wind gets past the magnetic field at our poles which is what causes Auroras. Solar Wind tends to rip at Earths magnetic field, it acts sort of like a flag on a windy day. Blasting and flailing in different directions as the Solar Wind rushes past it. There are a few good videos on utube if you want to check it out.

Earth's magnetic field can make magnets out of ferromagnetic material and it affects the movements of electrically charged particles in space.
Energetic charged particles generated by the solar wind.
The Earth is protected from the sun's charged particles by its magnetic field. The Earths magnetic field is generated within its molten iron core. Other examples of planets with magnetic fields include: Mercury, Jupiter, Ganymede (Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system) , Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.Mercury has a relitivley weak magnetic field. It is so weak that the suns charged particles can reach the surface of Mercury. +++ Also the atmosphere.
When a solar flare is ejected from the sun it releases billions of positively charged particles (ionized) particles. When these particles hit the earths magnetic feild it produces the aurora borealis.
Earth itself is largely protected from the solar wind by its magnetic field, which deflects most of the charged particles; however some of the charged particles are trapped in the Van Allen radiation belt. XxBaby Dee
Those are the Van Allen belts.
No, the gravitational field keeps us in orbit around the sun. The earths magnetic field provides us with some protection from charged particles from the sun.

The aurora australis, also known as the southern lights, are not something that can crash. They are lights in the sky caused by interactions of Earths magnetic field, charged particles from the sun, and the upper atmosphere.
effects of earth's magnetic field:-The sun emits huge amount of solid charged particles every time(called solar wind). if these particles are allowed to enter our earth, then there would be no chance of existence of life as this horrible effect of the solar wind would scrape away the atmosphere of our earth. but this magnetic field of our earth repels all these solid particles from the sun. by K.
