They should see a counselor who is familiar with this kind of issue. Stay away from regression therapy and hypnosis. They have not proven effective in this kind of situation, and can even worsen the condition. Your local Mental Health Association can point you in the right direction.
If the child is still being abused, the matter should be reported to your local police immediately. It is your responsibility as an adult to see to it that the child gets protection. Remember that these "inner ways" are protection for the child. They are not abnormal conditions. They should not be tampered with by any but experts, and not until the child is safely away from the abuse.
