Compared to what? The only real advantage that VHS tape had as compared to something like CDs or DVDs was length. You could buy tapes that would run for 10 hours without being changed. But today, you would be hard pressed to buy even a standard-length (6-hour) VHS tape.
eBay usually has used versions of VHS movies.
All VHS films have been discontinued. You would either have to buy a used copy or buy it on DVD.

A vhs to dvd recorder may help you conver your vhs tapes to dvd media if you have the right system. I advise you to check with the salesperson before you buy anything.

The Sony VCR uses typical VHS tapes, just like the ones you rent or buy.
