In 1556, Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar (1556-1605) re-established the Mughal Empire after defeating Hemu, the Hindu King of Delhi in the second battle of Panipat.

Akbar ruled India from 1556-1605. During his reign the country saw great wealth and equality. Akbar showed great kindness and generosity to his kingdom.
Jodhabai was the wife of Mughal Emperor Akbar. They were married in 1562 as part of a political alliance between the Mughals and the Rajput kingdom of Amer.
Akbar built Ibadat Khana at Fatehpur Sikri, his new capital. This is the place where the emperor invited religious scholars and teachers for discussion on religious subjects.

Akbar married a Raj put princess to reconcilate between the Hindus and Muslims and reduced taxation and legal discrimination against Hindu's.

The prominent Mughal king Akbar was interested in the Gonds as - 1. Garhkatanga, a Gond Kingdom had a queen Rani Durgavati. He wanted to make her a vassal of his kingdom as she was very powerful. 2. The kingdom was rich. They practiced agriculture. They exported elephants to other kingdoms. Their administrative set-up was well organized. Akbar wanted to capture these resources of the Gonds and was therefore interested in them.
