The US Civil War Battle of Staunton River Bridge took place in Virginia on June 25, 1864. It was a Southern victory with commanders William Henry Fitzgerald Lee and Benjamin Farinholt leading the Rebels. Union commanders there were James Wilson and August Kautz. As an aside, Kautz was born in Germany and migrated to Ohio well before the war. On the Confederate side, William Lee was the second son of Robert E. Lee.
