When he saw pirates of the Caribbean. Jack Sparrow got very horni when he saw the gold
He may have been a sailor on privateer ships during Queen Anne's War before settling on the Caribbean island of New Providence, a base for Captain Benjamin Hornigold, whose crew Teach joined sometime around 1716. Hornigold placed him in command of a sloop he had captured, and the two engaged in numerous acts of piracy. Their numbers were boosted by the addition to their fleet of two more ships, one of which was commanded by Stede Bonnet, but toward the end of 1717 Hornigold retired from piracy, taking two vessels with him.
In 1716, Teach became a pirate when he met the well-known pirate, Benjamin Hornigold, at New Providence. Hornigold took Teach on as an apprentice and he proved to be a quick study. Sometime in early 1717, Hornigold gave Teach his own command of a sloop and together the two pirates wrecked havoc in the following months. Later, off the island of St. Vincent, the two sloops closed in on a merchant ship and captured it. The ship was a large Dutch-built French guineaman called The Concord, which Teach decided he liked. Hornigold allowed him to claim this prize ship as Teach's new command, and he continued his life of piracy from there.
Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach, initially served under the privateer Captain Benjamin Hornigold during the early 18th century. Hornigold was known for his piracy and privateering activities in the Caribbean and off the American coast. After gaining experience, Blackbeard eventually became a captain in his own right, notorious for his fearsome reputation and flamboyant style.
