In his will, trying to protect his wife and daughters, he willed half of his kingdom to Rome and the other half to Boudicca. Now under Roman law, a man's debts were paid from his will and most important in this case, a woman could not inherit from her husband or from any male. (Just a minor amount was all that was allowed a woman from a man's estate) Pratsutagus and Boudicca did not know this and when Boudiccca tried to claim her inheritance she was turned away, by being whipped and her two daughters raped. She got a little testy after this and began the war.
