Confederate General Charles William Field graduated from West Point in 1849. He was ranked 25th among the graduating class of 43 cadets. Field was in two large campaigns. The first one was the Peninsula campaign and the Overland campaign.
Confederate General William Steele graduated from West Point in 1840. He was ranked 31st in a graduating class of 42 cadets. Although he was born in the North, Steele chose to side with the South. He saw action in the Western Theater.
Confederate General William Joseph Hardee graduated from West Point in 1838. Hardee ranked 26th in his graduating class of 45 cadets. Most of his action in the US Civil War was in the Western Theater.
Confederate General William Nelson Rector Beall graduated from West Point in 1848. He was ranked 30th among his graduating class of cadets that numbered 38. Beall served in the Battle of Corinth and the Siege of Port Hudson.
General William T. Sherman was a General for the Union Army.
Confederate General William Edmonton Jones graduated from West Point in 1848. He was ranked tenth among his graduating class of 38 cadets. Jones served in both battles of Bull Run. He also participated in the Peninsula campaign. In 1864 he was killed at the Battle of Piedmont.
Confederate General William Duncan Smith graduated from West Point in 1846. 59 cadets graduated that year and Smith ranked 35th in his class which included George B. McClellan.Smith saw battle action in South Carolina. In 1862,however, he died from yellow fever.
Confederate General William Lewis Cabell graduated from West Point in 1850. He was ranked 33rd in his graduating class of 44 cadets. Cabell served in the Western Theater of the US Civil War. He saw action at the battles of Iuka, Second Corinth, Hatchie's Bridge and Poison Springs.

Confederate General William Robertson Boggs graduated from West Point in 1853. He was ranked fourth in class of 52 cadets. During the US Civil War, Boggs spent much of time using his engineering skills. He built fortifications in places such as Savannah among other key parts of the South.
