Edward Elgar, born on June 2, 1857, was noted for his keyboard improvisation in his early years. Later in life he was a great organist, violinist, composer, and conductor. Some of his more famous works include Pomp and Circumstances Marches and the Enigma Variations.
In 1841 William moved to Worcester, where he worked as a piano tuner and set up a shop selling sheet music and musical instruments. In 1848 he married Ann Greening (1822-1902), daughter of a farm worker. Edward was the fourth of their seven children. This the information that Wikipedia offers about Elgar's father's life up to his son's birth. We also know that his name was William Henry Elgar, and that he was born in 1821 in Dover. At a young age he was apprenticed to a London music publisher.

Sir Edward Elgar is one of the most, if not the most, renowned English composer of all time. He composed such pieces of music as the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, the Engima Variations and a Cello Concerto. He was born in Broadheath near Worcester on the 2nd of June 1857, and died on the 23rd of February 1934, in Worcester.
