Greek worked with the Great Powers of Europe and fought for their independence from the Ottoman Empire.

To gain their independence from Europe, you see Europe had control over their taxes, food, etc. The Americans didn't like that so they asked for independence but the English didn't want them to be independent which irrevocably started a war.
