The Ford V-8's got them in 1984. I had a Crown Victoria wagon. The "chip" was mounted near the engine on the engine side of the left front wheel well. It over-heated often, causing loss of power steering and power brakes as the engine died; requiring super-human strength to use either. Long after I got rid of it, in Iowa, the state of California forced Ford to give owners compensation.
