The gun and a receipt from the dealer.
Gun Dealers and gunsmiths
It's legal to purchase a gun out of state, but the gun is supposed to be shipped to a dealer in your state, and you have to go to THAT dealer to pick it up.
In the US, when you buy a gun from a dealer, you complete a Form 4473, which the dealer keeps. A few states require registration of a gun- most do not.
The gun maker never sees a customer. Guns are sold to individuals not by the maker, but by a gun dealer. No, it is not the dealer's responsibility to ask a person what they are going to do with a gun.
When a person that is not a dealer sells a gun to another non-dealer. Both must be residents of Texas.
only a class 2 firearms dealer can do this legally www.atf.gov mechanical or parts malfunction can cause this to happen
No practical way to do this. If the seller was a dealer, and you filled out paperwork at the show, you may be able to go to the dealer and have them check their records. If you do not know who the dealer was, no way.
That depends on what gun it is. It would be best to talk to a licensed gunsmith and/or gun dealer to get an idea of its value. I will warn you though that it is fine to talk to a gunsmith and not a dealer but do not talk to a dealer and not a gunsmith. Not all people are honorable and the dealer might try to rip you off.
