Harvey comics (also known as Harvey World famous Comics, Harvey Entertainment, Harvey Publications, among others) was founded in 1941 and stopped publication in 1982 and were bought out by Steve Geppi for $50,000. Harvey Comics, under Steve Geppi's companies, resumed publication in 1986, publishing a few core titles. digests of past comics and reprints. In 1989, harvey Comics was sold to HMH communications. Publication once again stopped in 1994. At this point, Harvey Charcters, such as Casper, were licensed out to other companies, including Marvel Comics around 1996. They did not own the characters. Harvey comics was then sold to Classic Media in 2001, where it was finally sold to Dreamworks Animation in 2012, for $155 million They were known for their characters such as Richie Rich, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Baby Hughie, and Sad Sack. Marvel Comics did show intrest in purchasing some of the properties back in 1985, but instead started their kid friendly Star Comics line
