In Luke 23:34, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Apparently, it was at the beginning of the crucifixion. He said it because the Roman soldiers (1) were only following orders -- it was their job, and (2) it was something that had to be done to follow God's plan to save us from sin and death.
When Jesus was crucified for us all o the cross at Calvary , while all were mocking and watching the show, only one robber who was also crucified on the cross by his side, asked Jesus to remember him when he goes to heaven. Jesus answered Today you shall be in paradise, please note he did not mention heaven.
Those who tormented him as well as those who were responsible for having him crucified, saying " Father, forgive them; they do not understand what they are doing." (Luke 23:34).

Jesus forgives any one that asks for forgiveness. Plus Jesus said this while on the cross, "Father, forgive them; they do not understand what they are doing." (Luke 23:34).
I don't think so, as Jesus asked his Father to forgive them when he died on the cross. (Luke 23.34)

The cross represents what Jesus was killed on.
Lord Jesus said these words from the cross at Calvary.
Neither of those killed Jesus. Jesus died because he was crucified on the cross.

The cross reminds people that Jesus died for us on the cross to forgive our sins that we have done or will do. It also reminds us that Jesus was resurrected and went to Heaven to be with God, this also tells us that when we die, our sins will (hopefully) be forgiven and we will also go to Heaven and be with God.
Jesus Christ is the only one that can forgive sins. Because Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, he was able to die in our place on the cross. We should have been the one to pay for our sins, but Jesus did it. He said it is finished. He can forgive our sins if we repent of our sins and put our faith in the work that Jesus completed on the cross.
