The first Air Force Academy graduate to attain the rank of general was General John B. McCoy. He graduated in the inaugural class of the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1959 and went on to have a distinguished military career, ultimately achieving the rank of four-star general. His accomplishments paved the way for future graduates of the Academy in high-ranking military positions.
