Who discovered Mars who when where and how?

We will never know who first discovered Mars. The Egyptians from 1570 B.C. called Mars by the god name of "Horus of the Horizon" and depicted it as a man with a hawk's head. They also observed the planet "going backwards" refering to what we now know as retrograde motion. Aristotle (384BC- 322BC) was among the first known writers to set down observations of Mars.
Mars has always been visible to the naked eye of man kind, so this question would be impossible to answer.

Mars has been known since ancient times to various peoples around the world. The Mayans were aware of the planet, as were the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Chinese, and probably more ancient cultures yet. There were five "wanderers" known to ancient man--these were Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Although Uranus is barely visible to the naked eye, it is very faint, and no record of its discovery was known before 1781, long after the invention of the telescope and comet hunting had become a popular pasttime.
